About Us
Bob Allnutt founded AREA Properties in 1995 after a successful 14-year career with commercial developers, including Boston Properties.
Active in the Washington, DC, area commercial real estate industry since 1981, Bob has extensive experience in marketing and leasing, acquisitions, entitlement, development, and tenant representation. Since founding AREA, Bob has provided brokerage and consulting services for select clients and participated in development activities for AREA projects. His tenant representation spans multiple product types, including office, medical, industrial, and retail.
Before starting AREA, Bob spent eight years as Vice President at Boston Properties, overseeing the development, marketing, and leasing of suburban office, R&D, and industrial projects, completing over 2.4 million square feet of office space valued at approximately $275 million. He began his real estate career in commercial brokerage at Weaver Brothers, Inc., in 1981. Bob holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from Virginia Tech and MBA from George Washington University. He is a licensed real estate broker in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Heritage
Bob grew up on Homestead Farm in Poolesville, Maryland, a property that has been in the Allnutt family since 1763. Currently, his brother Ben Allnutt, along with his wife Maureen and their family, own and operate Homestead Farm. The farm is renowned as a popular pick-your-own destination, featuring activities such as pumpkin picking and hayrides.
Fun
Since 2011, Bob has been playing blues harmonica and singing with the Moxie Blues Band, a well-known local cover band. Performing at local establishments, wineries, breweries, and municipal events, this hobby provides a refreshing diversion and has helped forge great relationships through shared experiences and lively performances.
